The Old Fish Hatchery is a unique and quaint waterfront cottage. Built c.1887 as a fish hatchery to stock the Tuxedo Lake with bass, landlocked salmon and trout, it continued operation until WWII. Converted into a home in the early part of the 20th century and renovated in the late 1990s/early 2000s, the cottage has tile and hardwood floors throughout and wonderful ambiance with 2 fireplaces. Deck overlooking the lake and majestic morning views from the living room and master suite when the sun rises just beyond the lake's horizon. The property features a lively brook that flows from Tuxedo Lake to the smaller Wee Wah Lakes, stone walls and massive trees. The old Hatchery beds (no longer in use) cascade down from shallow to deep where the fish were raised. With over appox. 200' of lakefront, activities include boating, fishing and swimming, and the added option of the heated swimming pool. This magical 1.7 acre retreat is approx. 40 miles from mid-town Manhattan and yet surrounded by such natural beauty, it is a world away.
